Running In Place

I search.[1]
Walk over to the piano.  Stumble.  Touch the unknown.  Try.
Run.
Fall to my knees.[2]  My head in my hands.  The burden of knowledge.
I’m mute.
My skin brittle.  The melody ensues.[3]  Shrouded in music.
            Gather my dress.  Continue.
Stare.
            Deep breath.  Close my eyes.[4]
Open.[5]
            Momentary lapses in judgment.
I sort.
Through images.  Relentless.  I am mistaken.

[1] Everywhere and under notebooks and under this and that and over shadows
[2] A thousand Hail Mary’s
[3] Saturated music sheets scattered throughout my loneliness
[4] The void of the halls and mirrors hanging in all directions as they replicate the emptiness
[5] Light screams in and floods the room
