I Move From

Reverse Graffiti by Dutch Ink

I move from concrete to appreciate
Open mind, open hands, open
I fold my blankets - move them aside
Store them for the winter

I move from matter of fact to drawing myself outside of the pact
charcoal dust - fingers stained
I find the white of the untouched paper
Lower left hand, below the feet

I move from needing to believing
open heart, open soul, open
I fill mason jars with liquid- place in roots without dirt
Watch them bloom for the summer

Day 10 of the 30 Day Poetry Challenge for National Poetry Month is to use a line from a song as an epigraph to write a poem.  I didn't use a song.  I used reverse graffiti instead.  I haven't been listening to much music lately.  Shame on me.
